2013 – We fly with Malaysian Air to Bali from Sandakan. There was a cloud of volcanic ash from Java hanging over Bali. An eerie sensation flying through the thick gray mass of volcanic dust. Most flights were cancelled and we were one of the few arriving. We were relieved to break through the blackness and see land. Hello Bali!!
Hotel Grand Hyatt
Before entering the hotel, our taxi passes through a security check and our bags are searched. Approved to enter!! We are greeted with scented leis and cool drinks. The Hyatt is fabulous! The most beautiful gardens I have ever seen at a resort and situated on the beach. Everything has a quiet serene Balinese atmosphere….it is understated but luxurious. There are a couple of pools . My favorite is the lagoon pool, with its green waters and replica of the Elephant Temple.

I love Bali..it’s just over three hours from Perth, I’m sure going to miss it. It will be a long while till we can visit again
