About Me

My passion is to travel the world to see as many countries as possible. To date I have traveled to 105 different countries. I am addicted to collecting countries.

This plan hit me years ago when I was in Costa Rica. I am hiking and I run into a traveler who said he had been to 50 different countries. Within days I am booked on a flight to Panama ( a place I have never been) Lucky me I was able to sell my active business and free up my time to travel the world .

Part of the fun is the adventure meeting people and seeing so many different countries. Planning is a great first step.

Sit back relax and come with me!

Hi ! I am Anita …better known as Eastern Trekker. Nice to meet you !

  1. My travels during business years took me to much of Asia/Pacific and North America with a few countries in Europe and a quick trip to Brazil. Obviously you can outclass me with your travels. Living in an airplane for much of that time took the joy out of those visits hopping from country to country in rapid succession on business. You don’t get much sleep that way or a chance to really take in all the beauty spots in each place. But you meet a lot of interesting people along the way sometimes making friendships that last for life.

  2. I would only add, travel as much as you can while you can. My husband and I had nearly 50 years of travelling the world before he died a few years ago and I don’t regret one minute of it, even if the house looked shabby and in need of some TLC which we weren’t around to give it – most of the time! We organised our working life around our travels and managed to cover a lot of places, Samoa to Spain, Iceland to Ireland. Now that I am on my own, travelling is more difficult, so I’m so glad we had all those years together exploring different cultures and making friends in faraway places. And, seeing the great changes wrought in methods of travel. So, do as much as you can while you can.

  3. Wow! Anita, that is an impressive number of countries and I’m smiling at how you rose to your internal challenge of surpassing the traveller’s 50 countries! I look forward to reading about your travels through your posts here!

  5. I love your spirit of adventure Anita. It calls to mind two quotes from one of my favorite books, The Wind In The Willows….

“Here today, up and off to somewhere else tomorrow! Travel, change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you, and a horizon that’s always changing!”

Take the adventure, heed the call, now ere the irrevocable moment passes! ‘Tis but a banging of the door behind you, a blithesome step forward, and you are out of the old life and into the new! Then some day, some day long hence, jog home here if you will, when the cup has been drained and the play has been played, and sit down by your quiet river with a store of goodly memories for company.”

  6. Could you be interested in a wild life safaris in Uganda? Or summiting our snow caped mountain rwenzori, or rafting and tubing on river Nile the longest river in the world?

  8. Nice to meet you too, Anita, and what a wonderful adventure you have carved out for yourself. Still, I wonder, how do you manage this during the pandemic…or are you planning from home for when restrictions are lifted?
