Hanoi- Street Food and Water Puppet Show

2017-We decide to take a go trying eat Street Food. Very typical way of eating in this area. Along every narrow lane there multiple places to eat. Phò is Vietnam’s most famous dish. A rice noodle soup made with herbs and either beef or chicken. Chicken Skewers with peanut sauce are my favorite. Loved it.

The hardest part for me is seeing dirty dishes all washed in a plastic wash basin. That’s my paranoia. Huddling on the city’s iconic miniature plastic stools is the second tough part, as my husband is too tall…

Thang Long -Water Puppet ShowA famous event in Hanoi, dating back to the 11th century. It began when rice paddy fields were flooded and villagers would stand in the water with puppets putting on a show. A unique part of Vietnamese culture.

We were lucky to get tickets from our hotel, otherwise we would have had a long wait in the line to purchase tickets. The show and music was fascinating. Even though the language was in Vietnamese, it was easy to follow. It tells the story of farmers and fishermen in a comic sort of way.

  1. Vietnamese food is one of my favourites. The pictures are making me hungry! Some doubt would also cross my mind seeing the dishes being washed but when in Rome as they say. The water puppet show sounds interesting!
