Ranthambore Fort – India

2012-We were too ambitious booking 6 safaris. So, we decide to forgo this morning safari and take a trip with our driver Happy to see this ancient historical site. An impressive fort that towers above the area. Steep climb to various levels where it is situated atop a 700-foot-high hill, bounded by an enormous stone wall inset with bastions and turrets. It dates back to the 10th century with many stories surrounding its history.

Trinetra Ganesh Temple -Inside Ranthambore Fort, there are three Hindu temples dedicated to Ganesh, Shiva and Ramlalaji constructed in 12th and 13th centuries from red Karauli stone. We learned this is one of the oldest temples in India. For luck we took the dot, named Bindi on our foreheads.

On our way back our driver, Happy, explains about how monkeys behave and the monkeys make no moves. Heading back with nuts or sweets they are very friendly….but they check your hands. If our hands are empty and refuse to offer it they bug us. However they never fight with each other and never angry with you. Reminds me of our Family Dog.
