Turks and Caicos– Walking towards the beach we saw this Cotton Plant near the ditch. I noticed red bugs attached the plant.

In the past this was massive Cotton Field beginning the 1700’s. There were over a thousand slaves imported to plant massive Cotton Fields. They are gone now.

What a fun detail to share. Thank you, I enjoyed reading it and looking at your photos.

Great shot contrasting the white cotton and red bugs! But how sad to think of the past history of slavery there.

It was very sad in the past but this generation now of the black people are all happy.

Ah, I saw cotton fields in the distance in India but it so good to see the living plant so close up in your pictures. The bud is so fat and green. Lovely to see. Thank you.😊

I’ve seen something like this in Arizona on the cotton there. Those bugs bite.

Are those boll weevils? California used to be a major source of cotton, but I’ve never seen a bug quite like that!

I was imagining having to pick cotton when it was full of these bugs. Not so nice.
