Kruger, South Africa – Loved seeing these elephants on Safari. Our guide said these elephants weigh up to about 7 tons and reaches the height of about 3 meters at the shoulder. They are voracious eaters which in a day they consume about 600 pounds and bark from trees. Elephants can live to a potential age of 70 years. Kruger National Park protects large herds, due to rigorous conservation measures.

Such great dominant animals , and so heavy. We saw many in the adjacent Ssbi Sands so nice to see in the wild

600 lbs of tree bark? I guess I shouldn’t be too mad when the deer peel a strip off my trees then 🙂

Elephants are also gentle, caring mothers, wise, social and are led by a matriarch. She has second and third in commands to help with issues in and around the herd. My iconic animal

We destroyed it faster than we can save it, Anita. If we don’t save the rainforests, we destroy ourselves.

I agree with that..Humans are destroying our environment and us.

I hope last year’s environmental disasters gave us a glimpse of the worse yet to come and serves as a wakeup call.
