At age 16, Albert Crewe from Elliston wanted to go sealing. His Mom said “Don’t go”. She was worried as his Dad survived a fishing disaster.

But Albert was determined to go. But his Dad, Ruben decided to go and take care of their son.
March 31, 1914 they were stranded out out on the ice. Albert’s Dad held him in his arms and they died together.
Oceans are filled with these tragedies yet every time more are added…

It’s always sad to see these sculptures at fishing villages … and this one shows the beautiful love between a father and his son.
