Located in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island National Park. It has been years since we have been here. It is updated with the Museum explaining about her background. Lucy Maude Montgomery was 21 months old when her mother dies of tuberculosis. Her father moved to Saskatchewan and she was raised with her grandparents in Prince Edward Island.

The Monarch of the Forest – Nine Years Old
As an nine year old child she began reading and writing.

Lucy Maude Montgomery – November 30, 1874 – April 24, 1942
In 1893, Maud gained a teacher’s license from Prince of Wales College, and though not quite 20 years old, was put in charge of a classroom. But she had always had the dream of being a writer. She began writing short stories and poems, they were often met with rejection. But with a firm belief in herself, she persevered. At age 21 she sold her first short story for five dollars, and never looked back. She created her beloved tale of a red-haired orphan, Anne of Green Gables.
