  4. Beautiful photos! The woman in the last picture is wearing samurai armor, incidentally. The “kilt” is a fauld (I think that’s what it’s called, my medieval history is rather faded nowadays), which protects the fighter’s lower body. It’s made from lacquered pieces of bamboo that are sewn together, which gives it the appearance of fabric. I don’t know how effective it really was, but it is very striking, I think.
