  3. We were drained our pond when I was a teenager to partially fill and populate a flood control reservoir lower in the valley. A snapping turtle, maybe a little bigger plugged the cut we made in the dam. A friend grabbed tree that we had cut, about four inches in diameter. The temptation to snap at the proffered tree trunk caught the turtle and he was coaxed into the new lake.
