Osprey Family Nova Scotia

We walked along the trail and we saw this nest on top of the barn. We noticed this adult osprey and we saw her bringing food to the nest with two young chicks. They are so hungry

We realized these Ospreys are related to eagles and hawks. I noticed they have a brown stripe runs across the head through the yellow eyes. In flight Ospreys hold their wings with a bend at the “elbow”.

  7. Ospreys are just arriving in Virginia and attending to building/rebuilding nests for the coming year. If they already have mouths to feed, I would be surprised if it is this year’s family. 😉
