Pure White Chickadees

I saw these pure white Chickadees and the first time I have ever seen these birds. They definitely caught my attention.

I walked around through these woods and I saw this hole in the old tree. Maybe it is due to woodpeckers or different critters.

  1. Terrific find. The eyes are dark, so the bird is leucistic not albino. Leucism is a partial loss of pigmentation, resulting in animals having white, patchy, or pale plumage, scales, cuticles, and coats. Conversely, albino animals lack melanin—the natural pigment responsible for hair/fur, skin, and eye coloration—leaving them entirely white.
