Growing up on a turkey farm, I love turkey photographs.โThere is one from the late 50s that I would love to find.โIt made the cover of Progressive Farmer magazine with me standing in the midst of several hundred turkeys.โBut I was in a hurry the other day on a dangerous stretch of road, but I saw five tom turkeys, and all were strutting with their tail feathers fanned out.โAll of them wild turkeys.โAs I kept driving due to the blind curve nature of the road, I laughed thinking that the one hen in that crowd must have been a wonderful prize for all five of those toms trying to impress her at the same time.
Pretty domestic turkeys. I saw about a dozen wild turkeys in the Blue Ridge Mountains during our two weeks there.
