Northern Lights – Nova Scotia

Last month lucky for us, around 1AM, after about 4 hours of waiting, and the sky started to show some evidence of activity. I set up my camera to capture the sky and we were treated to about an hour of pretty amazing lights. The camera certainly enhances the effect but the lights and pillars were visible to the naked eye. This is one 5 second exposure using my Canon camera.

Since geomagnetic activity is usually on the rise during fall and spring equinoxes, the months of September, October as well as March are considered to be the best time to see the phenomenon

  18. I’m very envious. Just back from Norway where we paid a hefty sum to go ‘chasing the Northern Lights’ and although our guide tried very hard, even to the border with Sweden, we never saw them. And it was very expensive for that no-show!
