This monument was carved in granite created by William E. de-Garthe and located in the village of Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia is called: “A Memorial to the Brave People of Peggy’s Cove”. I think it was his way of showing his respect for the difficult life of a fisherman at sea.
In 1926 William immigrated to Canada to work in the foresters industry. He had a talent to art that landed him a career. Mrs. P. Agnes de-Garthe honored her late husband’s wishes by donating this monument to the province of Nova Scotia in 1980’s.
