Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe

2014 -Compared to Zambia, a very different view of the Falls on this side. Around two thirds of the Falls are located here….Devil’s Cataract, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Rainbow Falls. Locals nicknamed the Falls “smoke that thunders”…I get it…roaring waters and cloudy mist. Even though we are here in dry season the mists rise high and the roar of the Falls can be heard in the distance.

Horseshoe Falls It is located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe and is one of the world’s largest waterfalls, with a width of 1,708 m.

Devil’s Cataract -It is separated from the rest of the Falls by Baraka Island, also known as Cataract Island.

  1. These waterfalls are absolutely lush– all the more incredible that they border different countries! I’ve only seen Niagara Falls (US/Canada), and I hope to hit Iguazu Falls (Argentina/Brazil) soon. Victoria Falls looks like one for the bucket list!
