Thailand – Bus Tour, From Duong Dong

2017 Phu Quoc -This was a long but great seven hour tour. Unbelievable low price, $16.00 each. Our guide was informative giving us an overview of what we are seeing. First stop was at the Pearl Farm. I wasn’t prepared to buy a $3000.00 strand of pearls. Later we noticed this lady in a different market was stringing pearls with great quality and value.

Phu Quoc Temple– Truly an awe-inspiring site. Located on the hillside offers great views of the ocean below. Magnificent statues and sculptures depicting unique characters. It is the largest pagoda located in Phu Quoc.

Stopping at a small fishing village was such a highlight. Can’t remember the name as there was no sign posted. Little kids running around the market area, laughing, playing and so happy. Walking around with our tourist bus friends we noticed the delight in the eyes of the local vendors. Everyone sold something for tourists. Such a fun day.

  1. I like going to local markets when we travel. The sellers are always very friendly, and willing to discount
    some of their wares.
Did you get to buy your pearls?
I was a silversmith for over 28 years. I used semi-precious stones and pearls in conjunction with my silver work. If you haven’t purchased any yet, let me give you a hint so you can tell if they are real pearls.
You scratch the purl against the surface of your front teeth. If it’s gritty, they are real pearls. You’ll bea ble to feel the difference between glass – which is smooth or plastic – with this lil technique.
My Japanese knot-pearling teacher taught me this technique. Oh, real pearls are always knotted on silk thread in between each pearl too.
