Digby – Day 1

Pat, Zoe (doggy) and I drove to Digby from Halifax this morning. It was about 2.5 hours to arrive. Such a great getaway for us.

In 1783 Digby by the United Empire Loyalists led by Rear Admiral, Sir Robert Digby. The early settlers from New York and New England named the town in honour of their benefactor.

We checked into a Motel where dogs are permitted. It is an old motel but clean and comfortable and walking distance to the harbour front.

Digby Waterfront
Digby Pier Lighthouse – established in 1887
Digby Town Hall

We had an a fabulous lunch at the Fundy Restaurant with views of the harbour. Digby is famous for the scallops harvested from here. The scallop wrap was so delicious.

  2. How can dogs not permitted in these places? I mean dogs love beaches and those motels really need to be more welcoming to pets. ‘They want to walk the beach too just like humans.
