We enter the Serengeti and see some Coke’s Hartebeest. The one upfront is winking at me. Other than that, not much else. We are starting to worry that we won’t see many animals during this extremely dry season.

Now…excitement soon returned. We spot two photogenic cheetah near the road way. Our guide tells us they are two brothers. They actually enjoyed our attention and didn’t seem bothered by the many photos we were taking.

Shortly after seeing the cheetah we see a lion. She is only feet from our vehicle, enjoying her dinner. We noticed she was wearing a radio collar. This is an essential tool used in the Serengeti to monitor the state of the lion population. Her dinner is a Thomson’s Gazelle. She is eventually tired of our interruption and carried her kill off to a more private eating area.

Great photos! Watching wildlife in open is amazing and exciting.
