Huaca Juliana
Developed in the Peruvian Central Coast between the years of 200 AD and 700 AD. An adobe and clay pyramid located in the Miraflores district of central Lima, Peru, built from seven staggered platforms. It served as an important ceremonial and administrative center for the advancement of the Lima Culture.
Tomb Site
The Lima culture was overtaken by the Wari culture. Huaca Juliana primarily became the burial site for the nobility. The first intact tomb from this period was found on the grounds in 2008, and held the remains of three people: two adults wearing masks, and a sacrificed child. This was a grueling site to see.
Plaza de Armas
Plaza de Armas (aka Plaza Mayor) is the heart of Historic Lima surrounded by main the city’s main attractions — Cathedral de Lima & Archbishop’s Palace, Lima City Hall, and Peru’s Presidential Palace.

How long did you stay in Lima? I only had a brief few hours there, so I only saw a small piece of the massive city. But I did go to the places you visited, and your post brought back the memories! 🙂

We only stayed in Lima for three nights. ..our goal was to see Machu Picchu. Our plan now would be to visit places we haven’t….hoping we get back to our norm when this pandemic ends.

Lima is a city that I like very much and where I have been several times. I can see that you have been lucky enough to get some sunshine, it’s not that frequent.

The architecture is beautiful, the grave so sad. I wonder what all of those towers atop the building are used for? 🤔

It is a site I will never forget..I think the towers were there to house governmental ceremonies..
