Cusco, a city in the Peruvian Andes, was once capital of the Inca Empire. It is located at 11,152 feet (3,399 meters) above sea level, where lack of oxygen is the only thing that can prevent you from enjoying your trip. We saw several people on oxygen trying to recover.

Coca is a medicine to combat altitude sickness. Coca makes it easier for your bloodstream to absorb oxygen. We drank coca tea, which is most commonly found in the lobby of hotels in Cusco. We realized the leaves are the raw material for cocaine. I was wondering why I was getting strange visons in my brain. LOL!!

I loved visiting Cusco and your post brought back some lovely memories.

I think we are all finding it difficult. At least we can remember past travels fondly and just look forward to future ones.

You also have chocolate with coca, El Inka, a good excuse to indulge chocolate 🙂

Oh, that’s amazing–people living on the mountain slope and having to climb up and down every day. The original mountain climbers.
