Sagrada Familial- Barcelona

This was the highlight of our time in Barcelona. Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to develop the project in 1883. The Temple was built only from donations. As Gaudi said: “The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people.”  The outside is spectacular and so unique. Only pictures can describe it.

Sagrada Familial – Inside

The inside is even more unbelievable. It is like stepping into a piece of art. The audio tour as well to provide highlights of what we were seeing.

The light is what really stands out. On one side the stained glass windows reflect reds and yellow and the other blues and greens . The whole atmosphere is peaceful and happy. Unlike any of other churches we have seen around the world.

  1. Love the Sagrada Familia! I went twice, 2006 and 2016, and it’s crazy that it still isn’t completed. Looks like we’ll have to return for another visit once it’s done!

  2. When we were there, I remember thinking several things including the inside felt the inside of a whale… so Jonah of course, and then so many different styles all in one location, so much to see and how he inspired so many with his works in his lifetime.
