Monkey Temple – Kyoto

It’s actual name is Yasaka Koshido. It has a unique way to worship. This is where to write our wish on a colourful ball called “kukurizaru” and hang them at the site. Kukurizaru is the round, ball shaped talisman made of cloth, representing the good faith monkeys. A very unique Temple.

Dating back to ancient times, monkeys are considered spirits protecting people and their homes from evil and harm. The three monkeys are, “Not hearing, Not seeing, and Not talking” are a part of the Kōshin faith.
