HUE – VIETNAM

Short flight from Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang. Our driver is waiting outside the gate. The road to Hue goes over Hai Van pass; steep and windy turns along the way. With the heavy rainfall, we only get a glimpse of China Beach. At the top of the mountain we make an attempt to climb to the ancient hill top Pagoda. We turn back due to the pouring rain. At the end of our three hour drive we arrive at Hue.

Orchard Hotel

We are pleased with this hotel, a great choice. Loved our room. Walking distance to restaurants and the Forbidden Purple City.

Gourmet Food

The gourmet food originally created for the Emperors is a highlight for Hue. Centuries ago, anyone caught eating this food, created for royalty, would be executed.

We start with a steamed flat rice cake with chopped shrimp, crunchy onions and cilantro served with the best fish sauce ever. Next, sliced duck and tasty sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf. The best ever.
