We take an afternoon tour with TNK Travel ( $15.00 each). On the way we visit a Lacquer Art Factory, always a tourist stop while on tour. It was actually interesting and artistic.
CU CHI TUNNELS
These tunnels date back to 1948 as a protection from the Indochina conflict. They extend underground for more than 250 KM. During the Vietnam War they were extended with a networks branching in all directions. We have an opportunity to go underground into several. We opt for the 3 meter tunnel. All we wanted was to take a look underground.
Meeting Room Below
Next we visit the underground meeting room with manikins sitting around the table. There was a bat buzzing around the room…a little freaky.
We were offered to fire an M 16 and an AK 7. Absolutely a …no.

I remember those – very claustrophobic but also very interesting!

Agree…that’s my feeling as well.

I fired the M-16. Five bullets for I forget how much. Even though American and Australian forces conducted several operations to clear the area, they were never able to control the area for extended periods.
