Our flight to Portugal was due to leave this evening,,,,it’s been years since we have been to Portugal. We were looking forward to this trip. Impossible to travel! Devastated with the catastrophic COVID-19 we are dealing with. All we can do is stay safe, stay positive and live in the here and now.
Visit to Lisbon, Years Ago

Will add it to our itinerary.

Which part of Portugal were you going to visit?
To be honest, I am glad they locked down the country so quickly – March 16th a State of Emergency was declared and we were asked to stay at home and only go out if necessary. So far it has kept the rate of infection down as the hospitals would not have coped. But at the same time I am sad for the hotels, bars and restaurants.
At certain times such as Easter and May Day holdildays we can’t even leave our municipalities as the lockdown is SO strict.
I hope you will be able to return next year.

November 2018 we were privileged to tour Portugal and Spain and I absolutely fell in love with that part of the world and and the people who live there. Yes, we are all feeling loss right now, none perhaps as much as you who when you travel, take the rest of us with you. Thank you for keeping your spirits up and sharing travel pics and insights from the past. I just sent an email to the group we traveled with to Portugal / Spain, and it was so wonderful for all to be in touch, sharing our joys and disappointments during this strange time. Thank you for doing the same in this post. Hang in there and be safe.

That is such a bummer. I had a trip cancelled, too, and possibly one more – a big one – this summer. Fingers crossed.

Yes, as other commenters have said, it is a time for us to count our blessings, even if travelling isn’t one of them.

I follow another blogger – Wandering Together – who is in the same position as you – honeymoon in Italy cancelled, except I think theirs was in May. That is heartbreaking. I’m so sorry.
